Commemorative Days and Months – a great resource, and what’s in store for April!
The Annenberg Foundation puts out these great resources to help teaching in the US.
Don’t you hate it when you are half-way through November and find out it is Diabetes Awareness Month, or looking out the window at 11pm on December 1st and realize it is World AIDS day. Whether you are a teacher or a blogger, there is very little you can do. Well Annenberg’s newsletter helped me with some resources today.
I learned that April is the month for Autism Awareness, Poetry and Jazz Appreciation. There are weeks for Environmental Awareness and Spring Astronomy and commemorates the beginning of the American Civil War.
Do you know when it began? Well, its either time to find our, tell your class about it. That is the sweetness of educational resources like this. They give you, at least in most if not all cases, a heads-up for issues and occasions to spread awareness.
Of course, there are more events, birthdays and week/month observations out there. I am trying to compile more of these centrally.
So, stay tuned, and in the meanwhile, enjoy this resource.
